From the outside they look like two sizes of the same car. They are not. The T2 i-DM is a 4.79 m unibody SUV with five seats. The G700 is a 5.20 m off-roader with a ladder frame, air suspension, differential locks and six seats in a 2+2+2 layout.
The price gap is considerable; the difference in character is larger still. This comparison puts them side by side and closes with an honest answer about who each one is for.

Figures per the manufacturer data sheets. Electric ranges come from different cycles and are not directly comparable. For the G700 the data sheet states 2,500 kg towing capacity while the accessory tow hitch is rated at 1,600 kg braked — the entry in the individual vehicle’s papers governs.
Who should take which
Four metres seventy-nine parks in any city, 1,875 mm of height clears the car park, 2,110 kg feels light, and the 43 kWh battery covers almost any commute electrically. For families of up to five, the T2 is the more rational car — and the markedly cheaper one.
Six seats with space of their own in row two, 2,500 kg on the hook (factory figure), 900 mm wading, air suspension and 1,000 to 1,400 km of range: the G700 is built for people who travel far, carry a lot or head off the tarmac — without giving up massage seats.

The three questions that settle it
Do you need six seats? If yes, that decides it — the T2 has five. Six individual seats with a walk-through aisle is a different vehicle concept for families with three children or for car pooling, not an equipment detail.
Do you regularly tow more than 1.6 tonnes? Then the road leads to the G700. Below that, the T2 is entirely sufficient.
Do you genuinely go off-road? Not the gravel track to the holiday house, but water crossings, gradients and axle articulation. Only then do a ladder frame, locks and low range earn their keep. Answer “not really” and the T2 is the better-fitting car — and the more pleasant one day to day.
